Before the approaching elections in March 2016, the Platform of Volunteer Centers and Organizations implemented a survey of attitudes of political parties to their cooperation and willingness to participate in the development of volunteering in Slovakia. We have addressed 23 political parties and asked them for the answers for following questions:

1. Are you interested to cooperate with us in the implementation of an internationally valid method for measuring the economic value of volunteering by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic according to the ILO Manual? Such a measurement is already implemented in several European countries including Hungary or Poland. 2. Is the involvement of education for volunteering at kindergartens, elementary, and secondary schools in your interest?

3. Are you interested in the implementation of direct financial support, grant schemes or any other financial mechanisms of the state for the support of volunteering in Slovakia focused on the development of volunteer programs – especially those in social care, health care, culture, and environmental protection? Are you interested in the support of volunteering of vulnerable groups such as seniors, unemployed people, people with disabilities and thus enable them to gain competencies necessary for their personal and professional development?

4. Please, explain, how will your political party contribute to the development of volunteering in Slovakia?

We have approached all political parties running in the elections that have published contacts on their websites. Out of 23 political parties, only 10 sent their answers. The outcomes of this survey were published on all web portals and FB pages of all volunteer centers in Slovakia and sent to partner organizations and active volunteers.
